iPad Pro 2021 Launching with 5G mmWave Support: Is worth the wait?

Reportedly, Apple is working on a new edition of the iPad Pro 2021. And while it originally looked like it would launch a souped up model in late 2020, it now looks like the update is going to take place in 2021.

Apple’s success in creating its own in-house mmWave AiP (antenna in package) modules for next year’s iPhone lineup, according to DigiTimes, has increased the chance that next-generation models in Apple’s iPad range will also benefit.

A collection of 5G frequencies that promise ultra-fast speeds at short distances is mmWave or millimetre-wave, making it better suited for dense urban areas. In the US, iPhone 12 models exclusively support mmWave, while the iPhone series next year could see a broader technology release.

Is iPad Pro 2021 worth the wait?

  • Newer Processor

iPad Pro 2021

The 2020 iPad Pro comes with the A12Z Bionic chip, which is plenty powerful for most users in its own right. However the newer iPad Air comes with the body of the A14 Bionic chipset, which undoubtedly makes it a better option for the power-hungry user base.

  • New Technologies for Displays

iPad Pro 2021

A new display technology is on the cards, but Apple is not going to make a drastic improvement to the next-generation iPad Pro in terms of design. Several reports indicate that the 12.9-inch 2021 iPad Pro might have a mini-LED panel. This form of display is essentially a substitute (yet an inexpensive alternative to OLED, used in the iPhone 12 series) for the cheaper and unfashionable backlight panel. It will significantly improve colour, contrast and brightness and enhance local dimming on the iPad Pro.

  • 5G is the key justification for waiting

iPad Pro 2021

Announced a few months ago, the iPhone 12 lineup is the first group of Apple devices released with 5G support, and now this prowess is only going to increase. Apple will expand 5G access to other devices, and the iPad Pro 2021 is most likely to be the first to get it outside of iPhones. Now one of the main reasons for holding back and waiting for the next iPad Pro is this.
