At CES 2021, Asus revamped its Asus ZenBook Duo and ZenBook Duo Pro dual-screen notebooks, and while the display is practically happening this year. The ZenBook Duo series now has internal improvements and an auto-tilt mechanism that increases the viewing angle of their secondary displays to a more convenient one. At Computex 2019, the original Asus ZenBook Duo series was first released, during which Asus presented its ROG Zephyrus Duo based on the same rough architecture, but with an elevated secondary panel to assist with airflow and ergonomics. The little improvement has now made its way back into the lineup of ZenBooks, and it makes a pretty big difference.

Asus Zenbook Duo Specifications:

Both the main monitor and the ScreenPad+ have matte finishes that, to some degree, minimise reflections. The resolutions, respectively, are 1920×1080 and 1920×515. We have an 11th Gen Intel’ Tiger Lake’ CPU with integrated Intel Xe graphics and an optional discrete Nvidia GeForce MX450 GPU for the internal hardware. My demo machine has 32 GB of RAM and a 1 TB NVMe SSD, although it can differ in exact specifications.

The Asus ZenBook Duo UX482E has an Intel Evo sticker, which means it has been built to fulfil a set of weight, performance, and battery life requirements. It is 16.9 mm thick and has very thin screen edges, with space in the normal place for a webcam. Asus Zenbook Duo promises a battery life of 17 hours, and this laptop can be charged via USB Type-C.

On the left, there are two Type-C Thunderbolt ports and a full-size HDMI connector, plus a Type-A port, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a right-hand microSD card slot. Compared to the first generation, the keyboard layout is expanded, and we now have a more logical arrow cluster, plus the Shift keys are in the right position. A vertical trackpad is also available but won’t accommodate left-handed users. The keyboard is right at the lower edge of the body in terms of ease, and could get awkward with time.

Asus Zenbook Duo has enhanced its apps, and from one screen to the other, you can quickly switch programmes. To start a variety of programmes, you can set up batches and automatically tile them on the two displays. Both are touch-capable, but in some applications, the ScreenPad+ can act as a control surface. All in all, the style of their initial ZenBook Duo series seems to have been improved by Asus, and the current model could be more realistic for everyday use.
